Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Electrical stimulation uses an electrical current to cause a single muscle group to contract. By placing electrodes on the skin in various locations, the electrical stimulation recruits the appropriate muscle fibers. Contracting the muscle fibers through this method helps to strengthen the affected muscle. Various settings enable the treatment to be specific for the severity of the condition, as well as to control for patient comfort. In addition, electrical muscle stimulation promotes blood supply to the area of treatment.
Intersegmental Traction
Intersegmental traction (IST) can be implemented to mobilize the spinal column while gently stretching ligaments and muscles and promoting the health of intervertebral discs. IST also helps to increase essential fluids for intervertebral discs, increases blood flow and oxygen to ligaments and muscles, ultimately allowing for improvement of balance, strength and mobility.
Radiological Services
At our location, we may feel that it is clinically indicated to perform x-ray services if you are a new patient or if you have a new complaint. We take x-rays to reveal the internal structure and to examine the alignment of the spine. When reading an x-ray, we are concerned about potential underlying disease processes and disorders such as degenerative disc disease, arthritis, abnormal development, bone spurs, tumors and spinal curvature.
